Manufacturing Process for Silicone Dilators

As a silicone dilator original manufacturer for well-known brands such as Bien in Australia and several leading brands in the United States, JESilicone has extensive experience in dilator production. The manufacturing process for silicone dilators involves several steps, as these products are typically used in medical or therapeutic applications, such as vaginal dilation therapy. Given the nature of their use, it's crucial that the process ensures safety, durability, and biocompatibility. Here's a comprehensive breakdown of the process:

Step 1 – Material Selection
For vaginal dilators, only medical-grade silicone should be used. This silicone is biocompatible, non-toxic, and durable, ensuring it won’t irritate when in contact with skin.

Step 2 – Mold Creation
A mold is created based on the final design of the dilator. Molds are typically made from metals like aluminum or steel and are carefully constructed to match the shape and dimensions of the dilator..

Step 3 – Vulcanization Molding
Silicone material will be fully cured under high temperature and pressure from vulcanizing molding machine, then the silicone parts are formed. Our molding department is equiped with 12 high precision automatic vacuum vulcanizing machines which can be used to craft more high performance silicone parts.

Step 4 – Demolding
Once the silicone has cured and hardened, the dilators are removed from the molds. This must be done carefully to avoid damaging the product. The curing process gives the silicone its final shape, color, and texture.

Step 5 – Trimming and Finishing
Any excess silicone or flash material is carefully trimmed away. This step is important to ensure that the dilator has a smooth, uniform surface. Meanwhile, the dilators may be polished or smoothed to create a smooth, comfortable surface.

Step 6 – Quality Control
Each dilator undergoes a thorough visual inspection to check for defects such as cracks, bubbles, or inconsistencies in the material.

  • What is silicone vaginal dilator?
A silicone vaginal dilator is a cylinder or tube-shaped medical device made from silicone that’s used to stretch your vaginal tissues gently and progressively with different sizes. It's designed to help in the treatment of symptoms related to vaginismus in women by helping to train both the body and the brain to tolerate pain-free penetration. If you suffer from pain during sexual activity and sexual intercourse due to vaginismus, vaginal dilation therapy is a viable treatment option.
  • What is vaginal dilation therapy?
Vaginal dilation therapy is a nonsurgical remedy to regain natural vaginal elasticity and capacity, while also providing relief from difficult or painful intercourse, as well as other vaginal conditions such as vaginismus and vulvodynia. Using a vaginal dilator gradually over time stretches the vagina and strengthens the pelvic floor muscles while alleviating pain.
  • How to use dilators? - step by step real-time guide
When it comes to finding the right sizes to begin pelvic physical therapy training with a vaginal dilator set, you may want to consult a healthcare professional first, listen to your body. However, as a general guide, when you can comfortably use a vaginal dilator in multiple positions and with movement, you are ready to move on to the next size. Position changes with the trainer in, allow for variation in pelvic floor muscle, pelvic organ, and vaginal canal position.

Wash the vaginal dilator with warm water and soap.
Designate a place in your home that is safe and can help you get comfortable for your vaginal dilator practice preferably a place that is quiet and calming.
Use a generous amount of lubricant that is water based on the medical dilator and the canal opening. The use of a water based lubricant is important to preserve the medical grade silicone.

Select a size that looks appropriate for your condition or that a healthcare provider has suggested you get.
Start by lying on your back with your knees bent and feet planted. Many patients may prefer to lie on their side instead; if that is the case, be sure to have your knees bent and the top leg supported by a folded pillow between your knees.

Begin your training by taking a breath in and allowing your belly to expand, followed by exhaling and allowing your belly to slowly fall. The act of slowly exhaling can naturally open the vagina if need be. Women should repeat the deep breathing pattern and continue to do so steadily and deliberately. Gently bring the trainer to the vaginal opening and carefully insert it on an exhale. If you have any issues with the end of the dilator or need additional grip, our dilator handle can help.

Keep the vaginal dilator inserted in the vagina and repeat the slow, deep breathing cycle for 15 minutes or the length of time recommended by your healthcare provider.

If you experience discomfort, visual imagery helps relax the pelvic floor muscles around the opening of the vagina. Many images may work.
By practicing using vaginal dilators in different positions such as laying on your back, hands and knees, during deep squat exercises, and lying on your side, your organs shift around the canal and the device and allow for gentle mobilization of the tissue.

  • Choose right dilator size guide
Choosing the right dilator size(s) is important. Our eight progressive sizes allow you to gradually and comfortably progress towards your goal.

Pain with any type of penetration? Start with size 1 (approximately the size of a pinky finger) and work your way up through the Small Dilator Set or until you reach your goal.

Pain with medical exams? In general, if tampon penetration is ok, but exams are painful, size 3 may be appropriate for you, then progressing through the Medium Dilator Set or until you reach your goal.

Pain with intercourse? Consider the Medium Dilator Set for average size penis or Large Dilator Set for larger size penis. Progress through the sizes until you reach your goal.

  • Is dilator training painful?
Dilator usage should not be painful. On first use, dilator insertion may feel uncomfortable. On a scale of 0 to 10, where 0 is no pain at all, and 10 is the worst pain imaginable, pain related to dilator use should not go beyond a 2-3.
Stop and use a smaller size if the pain is more than 2 - 3.
  • How do I clean and care for my silicone dilator?
To clean silicone vaginal dilators, simply rinse them off with a little soap and water. That’s it! The dilator's antimicrobial properties eliminate 99.99% of all bacteria, viruses, and fungi, so no special cleaning or cleaners are required!
